Get The Facts…
Here is a list of the most commonly asked questions.
Does an airbrush tan prevent me from burning in the sun?
Although an airbrush tan gives you a natural looking tan, it DOES NOT give you any UV protection. The airbrush solution interacts with the amino acids in your skin to give you that bronzed look, but your skin will still react to the sun so I always recommend protecting your skin with high levels of SPF to prevent sun burn and to moisturize your airbrush tan as well.
What is DHA?
DHA is a colorless chemical that is derived from sugar cane. It interacts with the amino acids in your skin to give it the color. DHA is FDA approved for cosmetic use. DHA has no known toxicity.
How long will a typical session take?
The application process is usually 10 to 15 minutes depending on how dark you prefer your tan. I always take the time to consult with you on your desired results and to go over the procedure if it is your first time to be sure that you are comfortable before the application.
How should I prep my skin prior to my appointment?
It is VERY important to exfoliate your skin the day of your session for best results. I also advise to refrain from using any type of lotions of perfumes prior to the appointment so that there is no barrier on your skin that will block the absorption of the solution. DO NOT use an oil based body scrub to exfoliate on the day of your appointment. This will leave a residue that will prevent the active ingredient from working with your skin.
What should I wear?
During your session you have the option of choosing what you wear and what you don’t wear. I offer disposable thongs and hair covers. Whatever you are comfortable with is fine with me. Please be sure to have dark colored, loose fitting clothing and flip flops to put on after your airbrush tan.
How soon after the application can I take a shower?
Ideally you should wait 8 to 10 hours unless you have the “express” tan, in which, you can shower after 4 hours. You should also avoid long, hot showers, baths, pools and hot tubs as the chlorine will fade the tan faster than normal.
Will I look orange after my tan?
This is always the biggest fear and for many of us has sadly been a reality at one time or another. That being said, my solution is organic, paraben and sulfate free and I customize your color based on your needs, skin type and preferences so NO you will not be orange after your airbrush tan.
Should I get my mani, pedi, hair, waxing, etc. before or after my airbrush tan?
Have all of your beauty appointments done prior to your tan so that there will be no fading, stripping or spotting of your tan.
